The Hancock County Soil and Water Conservation District is holding a program entitled “How Tax Laws Can Keep Your Farmland in Farming” on March 25, 2008 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Ellsworth City Hall.

Gary Anderson, Dairy Management Specialist with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, will provide an overview of the importance of planning when transferring the farm to the next generation and Jeffrey Jones, an Estate Planner and Trust Attorney, will follow up with a discussion of the tax benefits of keeping your land in farming.

Also on the program are Esther Lacognata of Maine Farmland Trust and Bambi Magaw from the USDA Agricultural Mediation Program.

The program is free and open to all, but registration is required by calling the Hancock County Soil and Water Conservation District at 664-7496.

Sincerely,

Dave.
